Where does all the water go after it leaves the waterfalls?  We found it down the river.

The wide-open mouth surrounded by a moustache??  I am screaming in exuberance, not in terror.  REALLY.

Desolation Wilderness

August, 2008

A few days of high altitude/attitude camping in July to get ready for Machu Picchu

Elevation - 8,600 feet

Located a few miles west of Lake Tahoe, Desolation's granite moonscape is rugged

but the trees tenaciously find a way to break through.

Lily pads dance on the water

of the glacier carved lakes.

A campsite by Lake of the Woods is a tranquil place to return after hiking each day in the stunning beauty of the high altitude wilderness.

Back to Yosemite for Spring

< < In early May, 2008, Yosemite Falls fell spectacularly as the sun melted the snow.

<< And in the higher mountains beside Liberty Cap,

<< Nevada Falls' descending deluge delighted.

On the hike to the top, resting in the mist beside Nevada Falls, tired but smiling.>>

Hey Sweetcheeks,

A Special Surprise for Valentine's Day, 2008

December, 2007

A visit to Hawai'i, the Big Island

Daytime temps in the mid-80s and water temps in the mid-70s, diving with the turtles and sleeping on the beach was a nice way to prepare for the holidaze.
